SEOUL: Russian President Vladimir Putin told North Korean leader Kim Jong Un that Moscow and \u200bPyongyang were cooperating across all areas and coordinating efforts to ensure regional security and stability, North Korean state media KCNA reported on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Putin said in a message to Kim marking the anniversary of Korea\u2019s liberation from Japanese colonial rule that he \u200cwas confident Russia and \u200cNorth Korea would \u200bcontinue \u201cconstructive joint \u200cwork\u201d \u2060on \u200bbilateral and \u2060international issues, KCNA said.<\/p>\n
Kim had visited Pyongyang\u2019s Liberation Tower on Friday to pay tribute to Soviet soldiers who fought Japan in World War Two, KCNA reported. A wreath at the tower in Kim\u2019s name \u2060bore the words: \u201cWe do not forget the \u200cfeats of the \u200cSoviet army martyrs.\u201d<\/p>\n
Kim said \u200bthe legacy of \u200cblood ties and combat friendship between the two \u200ccountries had become a cornerstone of their expanding relations, KCNA reported.<\/p>\n
Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev also sent Kim greetings, KCNA said.<\/p>\n
The messages and Kim\u2019s \u200cvisit underscore deepening ties between Moscow and Pyongyang that have drawn \u2060international concern \u2060over North Korea\u2019s support for Russia\u2019s war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly said Russia uses North Korean missiles against Ukraine and has accused Pyongyang of providing Moscow with missiles and ammunition and promised more troops for the war effort.<\/p>\n
