Marking Police Martyrs\u2019 Day, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government paid homage to the police personnel who sacrificed their lives for the restoration of peace, maintenance of law and order, protection of citizens and the fight against terrorism.
\nIn a message issued on the occasion, the government described the fallen police officers as national heroes whose sacrifices had contributed to peace, stability and the supremacy of the rule of law. It said their services would be remembered with honour, gratitude and pride.
\nThe government reiterated that the welfare and dignity of the families of martyred police personnel remained one of its top priorities. It said financial assistance, employment opportunities, educational support and other benefits were being provided under the Martyrs\u2019 Package to ensure the well-being of the bereaved families.
\nReferring to the security situation, the government acknowledged that terrorism continued to pose a serious challenge to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the country, but said all available resources were being utilised to counter the threat.
\nIt said the police budget for the current fiscal year had been increased to Rs191 billion. The statement added that Chief Minister Sohail Afridi had approved a Rs31 billion package in his first cabinet meeting to enhance the operational capacity of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).
\nAccording to the government, investments had also been made in modern weaponry, anti-drone jamming systems, drone surveillance technology, armoured vehicles and other advanced equipment to strengthen the province\u2019s counterterrorism capabilities.
\nThe government also paid tribute to police personnel who survived terrorist attacks and continued to perform their duties despite sustaining injuries, describing them as symbols of courage, resilience and patriotism.
\nIt reaffirmed its resolve to continue strengthening the police force and supporting its personnel in efforts to maintain peace, uphold the rule of law and protect the lives and property of citizens across the province.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
