In a commentary carried by state media KCNA, North Korea criticized NATO\u2019s Fuel Supply \u200cChain Capability \u200cProgramme Plan, which \u200bit \u200csaid \u2060would \u200blink a \u2060roughly 10,000-km (6,200-mile) fuel network in western Europe with newer member states in eastern and northern Europe.<\/p>\n
The KCNA commentary offered no evidence for its claims that the \u2060project was designed to \u200csupport possible \u200cconflicts beyond Europe. NATO has said \u200bit is \u200cstrengthening deterrence and defense following Russia\u2019s \u200cinvasion of Ukraine in 2022. North Korea has denounced military cooperation between the United States, South Korea and \u200cother countries, including NATO members. North Korea and Russia have \u2060deepened \u2060military ties since signing a comprehensive strategic partnership treaty in June 2024 that includes a mutual-defense commitment.
