BEIJING: China will \u201cresolutely retaliate\u201d and safeguard \u200bits interests if the United States insists on acting unilaterally over an import ban on new Chinese robots and power inverters, the commerce \u200cministry said \u200con Thursday.<\/p>\n
The \u200bministry \u200curged \u2060the \u200bUnited States \u2060to immediately withdraw the measures and stop its \u201cerroneous actions,\u201d saying they discriminate against and suppress Chinese companies and products.<\/p>\n
The US \u2060Federal Communications Commission (FCC) released measures \u200con \u200cTuesday, seeking to \u200bprotect \u200cthe US AI buildout from \u200cnational security threats and reshore key industries slated for explosive growth.<\/p>\n
China said the FCC \u200chad ignored Beijing\u2019s repeated representations and continued to \u2060intensify \u2060its restrictive measures.<\/p>\n
The ministry accused the US of generalizing the concept of national security, calling it \u201cmarket distortion and unilateral bullying behavior\u201d that ignored the interests of Chinese and American industries.<\/p>\n
The FCC\u2019s ban also includes new imports of quadruped robots, often referred to as four-legged robot dogs. The agency said imports of advanced robots pose cybersecurity and other national security risks. Offshore production of such equipment also leaves US supply chains vulnerable to disruptions.<\/p>\n
