MONTREAL, Canada: Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on Thursday denounced a shooting at an Islamic center in Winnipeg as an \u201cappalling\u201d act of Islamophobia.<\/p>\n
No one was injured in the Wednesday night shooting at the Rahma Islamic Centre in the capital of Canada\u2019s Manitoba province.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis violent act of Islamophobia is appalling and has no place in Canada. I\u2019m grateful no one was injured,\u201d Carney said on X.<\/p>\n
\u201cLaw enforcement has my full support as they work to bring the perpetrators to justice.\u201d<\/p>\n
The National Council of Canadian Muslims said on X that individuals had shot at the center from a vehicle and then attacked it with a \u201cblunt weapon\u201d while community members were gathered inside.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is yet another example of what has been literal daily occurrences of similar incidents across the country,\u201d the council said. \u201cIslamophobic violence is reaching a record rate, and is quickly becoming a new norm in Canada.\u201d<\/p>\n
