\nWorld Cup-winning Spain \u200ccoach Luis de la Fuente was appalled by the conduct of Argentina\u2019s players after their 1-0 loss in Sunday\u2019s final, which led to a brawl between the two teams and triggered an investigation by FIFA.
\nAt the final whistle, Argentina midfielder Leandro Paredes clashed with several Spanish players, including defender Eric Garcia and midfielder \u200cGavi, starting \u200cthe brawl.
\nThe teams had \u200cto be physically separated, with Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni trying to calm down the players.
\nFIFA has appointed a disciplinary and ethics prosecutor to investigate the incident.
\n\u201cI find it intolerable and unacceptable from players of that calibre, whom I had been praising in \u200cthe days before \u200cand who have a magnificent coach,\u201d De \u200cla Fuente told Spanish public broadcaster TVE \u200con Thursday.
\n\u201cI want to highlight our behavior in the face of that kind of aggression and provocation. Our players always kept their \u200ccomposure and behaved like true professionals.\u201d
\nReuters has contacted the Argentine Football Association for comment on De la Fuente\u2019s comments.
\nArgentina\u2019s assistant coach Roberto Ayala apologized on Wednesday for his part in the altercation in the aftermath of the final.
