\nPrime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday condemned the Houthi attacks and reiterated Pakistan\u2019s unwavering support for the Kingdom\u2019s security.
\n\u201cPakistan reaffirms its unwavering support for the Kingdom\u2019s security and stands in complete solidarity with the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at this critical time,\u201d PM Shehbaz said in a statement on X. The prime minister\u2019s condemnation came a day after Saudi Arabia said it had intercepted ballistic missiles fired by Yemen\u2019s Houthi movement towards the country\u2019s south. According to the Prime Minister\u2019s Office (PMO), the prime minister strongly condemned the blatant attacks carried out against the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia last night.
\n\u201cSuch reprehensible actions constitute a violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and have the potential to further undermine regional peace and stability,\u201d the PMO said. The statement further said Pakistan would continue to support all sincere efforts aimed at promoting peace, stability, security and mutual understanding across the region.
\nEarlier, the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the UN wrote in a post on X that Ambassador Usman Jadoon noted Islamabad\u2019s condemnation of Houthi ballistic missile attacks against Saudi Arabia. \u201cWe express our full solidarity with the brotherly Kingdom and reaffirm our steadfast support for its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity,\u201d he said.
\nFurther, he noted, \u201cWe also reaffirm our unwavering commitment to the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Yemen, consistent with the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and international law.\u201d
\nThe ambassador called on concerned parties \u201cto resolve differences through dialogue, diplomacy, and a steadfast commitment to de-escalation,\u201d particularly during \u201ca time when the region continues to face heightened tensions and multiple interconnected crises\u201d.
\nAccording to Jadoon, \u201cA comprehensive, inclusive and sustainable peace can only be achieved through a Yemeni-led and Yemeni-owned political process, facilitated by the UN, which addresses the legitimate aspirations and concerns of all Yemenis.\u201d He cited the agreement on the exchange of prisoners earlier this year as having demonstrated that \u201cdialogue can yield tangible outcomes even in a difficult environment\u201d.
\nAll parties, the ambassador noted, \u201cshould build on this momentum and continue engaging constructively towards a durable nationwide ceasefire and an inclusive political settlement\u201d.
\nHe added that the people of Yemen have endured years of conflict, displacement, economic hardship, food insecurity, and the collapse of essential services. \u201cAny further escalation risks undermining prospects for peace and deepening the suffering of civilians, \u201cJadoon stated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
