A female doctor on Thursday alleged that an assistant additional commissioner (AAC), accompanied by security personnel, assaulted her and members of her family during a dispute over the administration of polio vaccine to children in Peshawar, and called for an impartial investigation into the incident.
\nAddressing a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club (PPC), Dr Rabia Saeed claimed the incident occurred in village Faqir Kalay within the jurisdiction of Police Station Mechani when a polio team visited her house to administer vaccine drops to her children.
\nShe said she informed the team that the children were not at home and had gone to visit relatives.
\nAccording to Dr Rabia, Assistant Additional Commissioner Shah Alam Ilyas allegedly ordered his personnel to detain her husband, Saeed, and her brother, Shaukat. She claimed they were assaulted and taken away in official vehicles after she protested.
\nDr Rabia further alleged that when she recorded the incident on her mobile phone, officials attempted to seize the device.
