New policy for tourism department rest houses to attract private investment, says CM Gandapur

A high level meeting regarding the better management and maintenance of the rest houses of the tourism department was held with Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur in the chair.
The Chief Minister discussed and reviewed various matters related to tourism department’s rest houses with special focus on increasing the revenue from these rest houses.
The meeting was attended by the concerned provincial cabinet members and chief secretary besides senior officials of the tourism department.
The forum decided to change the provincial government lease law for leasing out rest houses aimed at increasing the revenue generation.
In an effort to attract large-scale private investment, a long term policy will be introduced for the rest houses operating under the tourism department in KP, the statement said and added that “lease period of rest houses to be kept on account of investment.”
It was also decided to form a committee comprising the relevant cabinet members and other officials for necessary amendments in the provincial lease policy.
The committee will suggest necessary amendments in the lease policy within a week.
In the meeting, it was also decided to activate the company established under the department of tourism to supervise all matters related to the lease of rest houses in the province. The Chief Minister also directed quarter concerned to amend the relevant laws for the formation of the technical committee of the department.
Also, directions were issued for the speedy process for the appointment of Board of Directors of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA).
The meeting also decided that all camping pods managed by the tourism department will be outsourced as soon as possible to increase revenue.
The Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur also directed officials of the tourism department to initiate the process for the digitization of the inventory of government assets in the province.
